Sterling, VA: After Effects Instructor
The Northern Virginia Community College's Loudoun Campus Continuing
Education Program is looking for an instructor to teach continuing ed
students the Adobe After Effects software application.

It is a 4-session, 12 hour course (3 hours/session) that is taught several
times throughout the NOVA Continuing Ed school term. It is schedule to start
for the Spring 2008 term on May 17.

The instructor of this course will have the latitude to teach After Effects
either as an animation tool, digital video compositing tool, or both. The
course should, however, emphasize basic procedures to use the application in
order to create dynamic material either dealing with animation or video.

Los Angeles, CA: Storyboard Artist
A storyboard artist with excellent ability to convert verbal information
into physical drawings. Some drawings will be made during meetings with
Director and more detailed full drawings will be completed later on in the
artists office. Most drawings will be pencil or ink sketches but some will
be full-color drawings designed to show the directors preferences for
colors, patterns, backgrounds, remaining sketches will be concept drawings.
Panels are for a short that will be entered into Festival competition this
summer.

Must have a portfolio that demonstrates above listed abilities. May have
film background including formal art and drawing training, or may have other
experience as it relates to filmmaking and production.

JOB TITLE: NY1 News Anchor / Video Journalist, Queens (FT)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the production and reporting of news and programming. Oversees aspects of newsgathering, production and editing of stories. Interacts with anchors, reporters, news assistants and technical staff in the process of taking stories from conception to air. Writes, edits and presents stories on the air in a clear and concise fashion.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Story Production
• General assignment reporting, anchoring and editing.
• Develop ideas for new stories.
• Interview guests.
• Prepare stories for airing.
• Present organized understandable, topical and attention-grabbing newscasts and programming.
• Review content of stories and checks for errors of fact, technical errors, creative content, miscues, editorial mistakes and all elements needed to deliver quality programming.
• Critiques shows to find ways to improve them. Writes up daily notes on problems and what could have been done differently.

Editorial
• Determines priority of stories in newscast.
• Writes and edits stories, teases, scripts, etc. for shows.
• Copy edits scripts and reviews the final edited version of taped stories.
• Shoots news and feature programming.
• Keeps informed on current issues by reading newspapers, wires, Today grid

Planning, Coordinating, Scheduling
• Schedules shoots, guest bookings.
• Insures that all necessary elements in packages and newscasts are delivered in a timely fashion.
• Evaluates resources needed for adequate coverage.
• Plans major coverage as to not interrupt daily news coverage.

Reporting
• Receives assignment or enterprises news leads and news tips to develop story idea.
• Gathers and verifies factual information regarding story through interview and research.
• Organizes material, determines emphasis, and writes story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
• When in the field, transmits information to writer for story writing.
• Writes package leads for delivery by anchors.
• Writes, edits news packages for air.
• Develops sources and contacts for story development.

Camera and Field Operations
• Shoots all video for use in news package.
• Edits video for broadcast.
Presentation Skills
• Appears on television when conducting filmed interviews or voice over narration.
• Gives live or on scene reports from site of event or mobile broadcast unit.
• Occasionally represents station at other events.
• Fill as Anchor when assigned

Supervision (non-management)
• Monitors the work of news assistants and writers.
• Sets quality standards
• Insures that quality work is produced
• Gives feedback and assistance to staff for improvement

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
Bachelors Degree, preferably in Journalism/Communication /English or related field. General Liberal Arts is acceptable.

EXPERIENCE:
Previous on-air experience required. Minimum of 2 years experience in news or programming.
